Rtriva Software Uninstallation Instructions

Last Updated: July 14, 2026

Effective Date: July 14, 2026

This page explains how to uninstall Rtriva software from a Windows or macOS device and how uninstalling the software may affect your license, subscription, account, scan history, recovered files, and related settings.

Uninstallation is a device-level action. Uninstalling the software generally does not automatically cancel a subscription, delete your Rtriva account, or remove files that you have already recovered and saved to a location of your choice.

1. Scope

These Uninstallation Instructions apply to:

  • Rtriva Data Recovery for Windows;
  • Rtriva Data Recovery for Mac; and
  • versions of the software downloaded and installed from the official Rtriva website or an authorized distribution channel.

The names and locations of menu items may vary slightly depending on your operating system version, software version, or installation source, but the main uninstallation process is generally the same.

2. Before You Uninstall

Before uninstalling Rtriva, we recommend that you confirm the following:

  • no disk scan, file preview, or data recovery task is currently in progress;
  • any recovered files you wish to keep have been saved to a secure location;
  • any software settings, license details, or customer support records you wish to retain have been recorded or backed up;
  • if you purchased an automatically renewing subscription, you have checked whether the renewal must be cancelled separately; and
  • if you plan to reinstall the software, you have saved the email address used for the order, the order number, or the relevant license information.

Closing or uninstalling the software while a scan or recovery task is still running may interrupt that task.

Uninstalling the software will not restore unsaved scan results and will not automatically save an incomplete recovery session.

3. How to Uninstall the Windows Version

You may uninstall Rtriva using any of the methods below.

3.1 Uninstall Through Windows Settings

Windows 11

  1. Close Rtriva.
  2. Open Settings in Windows.
  3. Select Apps.
  4. Select Installed apps.
  5. Find Rtriva in the application list.
  6. Select the More options button next to the application.
  7. Select Uninstall.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Windows 10

  1. Close Rtriva.
  2. Open Settings in Windows.
  3. Select Apps.
  4. Select Apps & features.
  5. Find Rtriva in the application list.
  6. Select the application name.
  7. Select Uninstall.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

3.2 Uninstall Through Control Panel

  1. Close Rtriva.
  2. Open Control Panel in Windows.
  3. Go to Programs or Programs and Features.
  4. Find Rtriva in the program list.
  5. Select Rtriva.
  6. Select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

3.3 Uninstall Through the Start Menu

If your version of Windows supports this method:

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Find Rtriva in the application list.
  3. Right-click Rtriva.
  4. Select Uninstall.
  5. Follow the system prompts to complete the process.

3.4 If Rtriva Cannot Be Uninstalled Normally

If the uninstaller does not respond or Rtriva does not appear in the application list, you may try the following:

  • restart the computer and try again;
  • confirm that Rtriva and any related processes have been closed;
  • run the uninstaller with administrator privileges;
  • reinstall the same version of the software and then run the uninstaller again; or
  • contact Rtriva Customer Support for assistance.

Unless you are certain what a file or entry is used for, we do not recommend manually deleting system folders, registry entries, or unidentified files associated with the software.

4. How to Uninstall the macOS Version

4.1 Uninstall Through the Applications Folder

  1. Close Rtriva.
  2. Open Finder.
  3. Open the Applications folder.
  4. Find Rtriva.
  5. Drag Rtriva to the Trash, or right-click it and select Move to Trash.
  6. Enter an administrator password or use Touch ID if prompted.
  7. After confirming that you no longer need the software, you may empty the Trash.

4.2 If Rtriva Cannot Be Moved to the Trash

If macOS indicates that Rtriva is currently in use:

  1. Confirm that all Rtriva windows have been closed.
  2. Right-click Rtriva in the Dock and select Quit.
  3. Open Activity Monitor.
  4. Find and end any Rtriva-related process that is still running.
  5. Try moving the application to the Trash again.

If the issue continues, restart your Mac and try again.

4.3 Uninstall Through Launchpad

If Rtriva was installed through a method that supports Launchpad management:

  1. Open Launchpad.
  2. Press and hold the Rtriva icon until the icons begin to move.
  3. If a delete button appears next to the icon, select it.
  4. Confirm the uninstallation when prompted.

Not all installation methods support removal through Launchpad. If no delete button appears, uninstall Rtriva through the Applications folder instead.

5. What Happens After Uninstallation

5.1 The Software Will No Longer Be Available on the Device

After uninstallation is complete, the Rtriva application files will be removed from the current device. You will no longer be able to use scanning, preview, recovery, activation, or update functions on that device unless you reinstall the software.

5.2 Tasks in Progress Will End

Uninstallation will end any incomplete:

  • disk scan;
  • file analysis;
  • file preview;
  • file recovery; or
  • software update or related task.

Unsaved scan progress or temporary results may not be recoverable.

5.3 Recovered Files Are Generally Not Deleted

Uninstalling Rtriva generally does not delete files that you have already recovered and saved to:

  • another folder on a local drive;
  • an external drive;
  • a USB storage device;
  • a network drive; or
  • another location selected by you.

You are responsible for managing recovered files. Before uninstalling, we recommend confirming that important files can be opened normally and have been backed up appropriately.

5.4 Original Disk Data Is Not Changed by Uninstallation

Uninstalling the software does not itself delete, modify, or overwrite original files on a storage device that you scanned.

However, continuing to use a storage device after data loss may create new writes that overwrite recoverable data. If you still plan to recover data from the device, we recommend minimizing further write operations on that device.

5.5 Scan History and Temporary Data

Depending on the software version and system environment, the uninstallation process may remove:

  • local scan caches;
  • temporary preview data;
  • local task history;
  • application caches; and
  • certain configuration files.

After uninstallation, the main Rtriva application, background services, startup items, and scheduled tasks will stop running and will be removed.

Depending on the operating system and software version, a limited amount of local data—such as application preferences, operational logs, cache files, or saved scan sessions—may remain after the main application is removed. These files do not contain software components capable of running independently. After Rtriva has been uninstalled, it will not use these files to continue running, connecting to the internet, collecting information, or transmitting information.

If you would also like to remove this remaining local data, please contact Rtriva Customer Support. We will provide cleanup instructions appropriate for your software version and operating system at no charge.

6. Uninstalling Does Not Cancel a Subscription

Uninstalling Rtriva does not automatically cancel an active subscription or an automatic renewal arrangement.

If you purchased an automatically renewing plan and wish to stop future renewals, you must cancel the subscription separately through the order platform, payment provider, account page, or customer support channel used for the purchase.

Before uninstalling, we recommend confirming:

  • whether your license is a one-time purchase or a subscription plan;
  • the next renewal date;
  • whether the subscription is managed by Rtriva or a third-party payment platform; and
  • whether you have received confirmation that the cancellation was completed.

Removing the software from a device does not automatically create a right to a refund and does not alter an order that has already been completed.

Refund requests are handled in accordance with the terms shown at the time of purchase, the applicable refund policy, and applicable consumer protection laws.

7. Uninstalling Does Not Delete Your Account

Uninstalling the software does not automatically delete your Rtriva account.

After uninstallation, we may continue to retain limited information about you in accordance with applicable law, our contractual obligations, and the Rtriva Privacy Policy, including:

  • account information;
  • order and payment records;
  • license status;
  • customer support communications;
  • refund and dispute records; and
  • security and fraud-prevention records.

If you would like to delete your account or submit a request to delete personal data, please contact us as described in the Rtriva Privacy Policy.

Certain transaction, tax, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution records may need to be retained as required or permitted by law and may not be removed immediately in response to an account deletion request.

8. Uninstalling May Not Release All Licensed Device Slots

Depending on the type of license you purchased, uninstalling the software may not immediately remove the association between the device and the license.

If you need to:

  • transfer the license to a new computer;
  • replace a device;
  • reinstall the operating system;
  • release an activated device slot; or
  • resolve an activation-limit issue,

first check whether the software account or license management page provides an option such as Deactivate device, Remove device, or Unlink device.

If no such option is available, contact Customer Support and provide:

  • the email address used for the order;
  • the order number;
  • the license key or license identifier;
  • basic information about the previous and new devices; and
  • the reason the device needs to be unlinked.

To protect account security, we may request reasonable identity or order verification.

9. How to Remove Remaining Settings and Local Data

If you only want to stop using the software, completing the standard uninstallation process is generally sufficient.

If you also want to remove local settings, caches, or logs left by Rtriva, you may check the application support, cache, log, or user configuration folders associated with Rtriva after uninstalling the main application.

The folders used may differ depending on the operating system, software version, and installation method.

Before manually deleting anything, please:

  • confirm that the target file or folder belongs to Rtriva;
  • do not delete recovered files that you wish to keep;
  • do not delete system files shared by other software;
  • remember that operational logs may be useful for future technical support; and
  • understand that deleting configuration files may prevent license status, settings, or historical tasks from being restored.

If you are not certain whether a file can be safely deleted, contact Customer Support before removing it.

9.1 Remaining Local Data on Windows

Windows may retain software-related items such as:

  • user preferences;
  • application caches;
  • local logs;
  • installation records;
  • license or activation status information; and
  • crash diagnostic files.

These files may be stored in the current user's application data directory, the system program data directory, or the software installation directory.

Exact paths may change between versions. We therefore do not recommend deleting registry entries or system-level folders unless you understand their purpose.

9.2 Remaining Local Data on macOS

macOS may retain software-related items such as:

  • Application Support files;
  • Preferences files;
  • Caches;
  • Logs;
  • Saved Application State files; and
  • license or activation status information.

These files are generally stored in the current user's Library folder.

Deleting them may reset software settings and may affect license recognition or troubleshooting after reinstallation.

10. Reinstalling the Software

After uninstalling Rtriva, you may download the installer again from the official Rtriva website.

Before reinstalling, we recommend confirming that:

  • the installer comes from the official Rtriva website or an authorized source;
  • the installer is compatible with your operating system;
  • your system meets the software requirements;
  • you still have access to the order email address or valid license information; and
  • recoverable data on the original storage device has not been overwritten through continued use.

Reinstalling the software generally does not automatically restore previously unsaved scan progress.

If the software supports saving and reopening scan sessions, whether a previous session can be resumed depends on whether the relevant session file still exists and is compatible with the currently installed version.

11. Uninstallation Feedback

During uninstallation, we may offer an optional survey asking why you are uninstalling the software, for example:

  • the software is no longer needed;
  • the data has already been recovered;
  • the software did not meet your needs;
  • you encountered a technical issue;
  • price or subscription concerns;
  • you are changing devices or operating systems; or
  • another reason.

Participation in an uninstallation survey is optional.

Choosing not to provide feedback will not affect the uninstallation process or any refund, privacy, consumer, or other legal rights available to you.

If you voluntarily submit feedback, we may use it to:

  • improve the product;
  • identify technical issues;
  • improve customer support;
  • better understand user needs; and
  • improve the installation and uninstallation experience.

Do not include passwords, payment card details, identity document information, recovered files, or other sensitive information unrelated to the feedback.
